Announcing the Blog Planning Bootcamp!

(We will get back to our regular interviews next week. In the future, most of my announcements and blogging tips will be included in my weekly email, so be sure to sign up – in the sidebar – to get it.)

Last week we talked about the different hats every blogger wears. The first hat is the CEO hat and I encouraged you to have a CEO planning session.

Well, I know how hard it can be to take the time to sit down and brainstorm for your blog, so I’m excited to announce a community wide Blog Planning Bootcamp on August 26-30!

Blog Planning Bootcamp Details

Who: You
What: The Blog Planning Bootcamp – 5 days dedicated to building a vision and creating a plan for your blog.
When: August 26-30
Where: It’s all going to happen on the How They Blog Facebook page.
How: You will have a lesson and homework everyday. You’ll be challenged to complete each assignment, share some of your goals, and encourage one another. Everyone who completes the entire challenge will get a little surprise bonus. I might also yell at you and make you do pushups.
Why: Because Blog Planning can be intimidating and overwhelming. Joining forces and working through it together will make it fun! Each days’ challenge will take about 15-30 minutes and by the end of the week you will be a blogging ninja…or soldier…or whatever inspiring metaphor you want to use.

Added bonus: I highly recommend inviting your blog friends and blog readers to join you. It’s a fantastic way to build your online community. You can create a dedicated FB group or Twitter hashtag for further connection and it can be a fantastic basis for your own blog mastermind group.

My goal it to provide the direction and accountability you need to map out a plan of action for your blog. I hope it will be just the thing you need to take you to the next level.

Do I Need The Blog Planning Kit?

HowTheyBlog.com Blog Planning Kit ButtonAnyone can participate in the Blog Planning Bootcamp. It’s entirely free. However, it will completely be based on the content and forms in the Blog Planning Kit, so if you don’t have a copy, it will certainly be worth it!

  84. I’m planning on it!

  85. Sounds amazing! Thank you Kat!

  86. Kat, right now I feel like I don’t have time to write because…the details just might put you to sleep. There’s so much going on in our lives. The main problem I have is that I can’t seem to write on demand anymore. I blame it on pregnancy-brain after carrying two boys, the youngest of whom is about to turn five. Oh, and we homeschool. Can your bootcamp help me?

  87. I am in!

  88. I bought the blog planner last week and have already started filling it out! So excited, thank you for helping us. My big question is this…if we are overwhelmed with all the different topics we like to write about how do we narrow that down? My main problem is not having focused content so I can’t even get to the marketing portion of blogging. Does that make sense? I just wish a the blog fairy godmother would swoop down and tell me exactly what I should do!

  89. YES! Perfect timing Kat! So glad to see the tweaks you’ve made to the blogging kit. Our collaborative blog is just now going through it (great coincidence) this week. I’ll try to get the other HHH writers to join in – wonderful idea, blessed by you. πŸ™‚

  90. In!!

  91. Hoping to be there!!!!

  92. I’m going to do it!

  93. I just discovered this, and I will be joining it!

  94. This is just the kick start I need to get my blog out of my head and onto the internet!

  95. I am in between projects and have hit a WALL…perfect timing. I am IN!

  96. I will definitely be there! I’m really excited because I need some direction! πŸ™‚

  97. I’m in! It’s a busy week for me but – all the more reason to be “in!”

  98. Found out about this just in time!

  99. I am catching up on the videos now! So excited.

  100. Kat, I’m enjoying your boot camp videos, but now, halfway through, a question has occurred to me. How do you build an online presence (through commenting on people’s blogs, posting things on Facebook, etc.) if you can’t afford to spend your time cruising the internet all day? For so many of us the internet is a black hole we can easily get sucked into. My solution has often been avoidance of computer time, but you can’t exactly build an audience by staying away from the internet. We homeschool, and my boys are young, so I spend all day every day pretty much with the kids year round. I’m glad I get to do it, but it does make getting personal projects completed that much more difficult.

    • Kelly,
It’s truly amazing how much we can get done when we have a plan and we focus. I’d start by spending X amount of time per day or per week (or whatever it takes) to find like minded blogs. Then spend that same X amount of time simply commenting on those bloggers posts and connect with them on social media. Just that simple consistent, focused commitment to connecting deeply with a few bloggers will have a significant impact on the level of community you can create.

And if you want to kick it into hyper speed, join a network like the Influence Network or attend a blogging conference.

Also? Maybe this isn’t the season for you to develop your online presence. I’m not saying it is or it isn’t, but there are definitely times when I’ve pressed in or pulled back. Maybe this is a pull back season for you?

  101. I’m a little late – but I’m in!
