HTB # 001 – Welcome To The How They Blog Podcast!

Welcome to the first episode of the How They Blog Podcast!

Podcasting is my new favorite thing and while I’ve been recording shows over at my other blog, Inspired To Action, for awhile, I’m incredibly excited about bringing podcasting over to HTB.

Today’s Topic

Today’s show is all about 3 core concepts that can have a huge impact on how well you connect with your readers, what kind of content you create and how effectively you get it all done.

Q & A

And in the Q & A segment, reader Asheritah asks about how to balance creating content and consuming content all while consistently bringing fresh ideas to our blogs.

I have some fantastic interviews already recorded and even more lined up, so be sure to subscribe via iTunes and let me know in the comments what topics you’d like to hear discussed and who you’d love to see (well…hear) on the show.

And if you’d like to be on the show, visit this page to leave your question.

How to Listen to This Podcast

If you’re new to podcasts, think of them like little radio shows that you can listen to at your convenience. They are perfect to listen to and learn from as you workout, fold laundry, wash dishes or conquer the world.

1. Listen right here on the blog. Click through to the site and click the little play button at the beginning of this post.
2. Listen on your smartphone, iPad or iPod Touch – There are a lot of great podcasting apps. Apple has a free one in the app store, but I like one called Downcast. It allows me to search for shows, subscribe to them and even speed up the audio.
3. Subscribe to the Podcast – (The podcast is still awaiting approval into the iTunes store. I’ll let you know when it’s ready. If you use an app – like Downcast – that can add a show manually, enter this feed address to subscribe to the show –

  1. Hey Kat, I’m looking forward to your podcast. I use Downcast, but can’t seem to find it in my “How They Blog” search. The link above in #3 takes me to the ITA podcast in itunes. This could absolutely, and likely, be user error. Am I missing something? Could you direct me on how to find it in Downcast or itunes? Thanks!

  2. You are rockin’ these podcasts in a major way. LOVE listening to ya. Keep up the good work, Lee! 🙂

  3. “Steam, the stuff that comes when you boil water.” <– You're teaching me all kinds of stuff, Kat! :p But for real, you really do.

Okay, I actually do want to read an encyclopedia. :p I tried to read the dictionary when I was little. I got stuck on a – gain. What is 'a – gain'? Again…haha

My comments are on random things, but I promise you, I do gain insights on the topic from your podcasts! 🙂

  4. Hi Kat. I am a bit behind the curve here, as I just listened to your first podcast this evening. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the first podcast, and how helpful your points were regarding the conceptualization & articulation of a blog’s goals – and how the conscious articulation of those goals directly informs a blog’s success/effectiveness. As someone who is still an amateur in this blogging game, this first podcast has given me some great fodder to consider as I try to articulate the goals for my blog; I look forward to following along in the future.
