Jessi’s Gadget and App Recommendations

Jessi is yet another successful blogger who keeps it pretty simple in the gadget and app department…further proof that you don’t need to have every new gadget or 1001 app to do well in the online world. Whew!

What computer do you use? (i.e. MacBook Air)
MacBook Air

What kind of phone do you have? (i.e.Samsung Galaxy III)
iPhone 4

Do you use a tablet? If so, what model? (i.e. iPad 4)

What blog platform do you use? (WordPress, Blogger, Typepad etc)
Blogger but soon migrating to WordPress

How do you capture your blog ideas? (Notebook, Evernote, Word, Sticky notes etc.)
I keep a running Evernote note with dates and blog titles. I usually have the next three months dates listed so I can look at where I might want to stick things.

What are your most useful computer/web apps?! I use buffer on the daily to schedule my tweets and facebook posts.

What are your most useful phone/tablet apps?
We use instagram to keep flesh on our brand. I rarely post about business but post twice or three times a day about our actual life. I love AfterLight and Over App for editing pictures. I also love the Paypal App + the Shopify App for managing our online story and money.

  1. Beautiful office space, Jessi! Wow. I appreciate how real it is, focusing on lots of textures and beauty for inspiration.
How do you balance kiddos and office space/time? Is that just a place for work to happen or are they in there with you?

I have a corner and it’s hard to keep it clear and organized with two little girls 3.5 and 2.

    • Oh, you know what. It NEVER actually looks like that. I took that picture the first day I put stuff on the walls:) My desk is usually covered and my kids run in and out, but I don’t super mind. If I REALLY need quiet, I get out and go to Starbucks or steal my husband’s office – but randomly I typically work best when I can hear them or know I’m in the thick of it, even if someone else is in charge!

  2. Yay for simple!! And Jessi, I have to know where you got your corner bookcase/shelving unit thingies.

  3. Not really about blogging, but you mentioned your husband is a church planter. I thought you meant pastor at first, but then you mentioned it again. I don’t want to waste your time, so maybe just a one or two sentence definition of church planter.

    • He’s both! He’s an ordained pastor who is planting a church, which essentially just means starting a new one from scratch!

  4. This has been really great to read! I love Jessi’s blog and her heart for family and church planting. These were some very helpful tips 🙂 xoxo
